Jimmie’s Chicken Shack

Jimmie’s Chicken Shack are best known, internationally, for their top ten hits “High” and “Do Right,” both of which were featured on MTV’s buzz bin. In fact they are one of the hardest working bands in the business having been on the road continuously since 1995, and their last release, Fail on Cue was their eighth album. In between headlining their own shows in the US and Europe they’ve been out with groups such as Live, 311, Creed, Fuel, and Everclear. They shared festival stages with nearly every major alternative rock band. Some of the subsequent tour-bus friendships led to co-writes with, such luminaries, as Aaron Lewis (Staind), Art Alexakis (Everclear), Butch Walker (Marvelous 3), Mark Tremonti (Creed) and John Wozniak (Marcy Playground).

The band has long been noted for its astounding musicianship and ability to “jam” on their classics. At the nucleus stands Jimi Haha’s dynamic and often hilarious stage presence, exciting, eccentric melodies, riffs and chord changes and his biting, often ironic, lyrical take on life. “We mix up a lot of different sounds,” says Jimi, “we’re schizophrenic because our tastes are.” From bluesy rap-infused grooves through reggae to rock, their powerhouse live set is lesson in controlled diversity.

HaHa got his musical start singing an a cappella version of the Beach Boys’ Surfin’ as a second grader in an elementary school talent show. He started playing music when he was 12 and singing when he was 15, “because I got expelled from school.” His musical influences run the gamut from the Beatles, to Jimi Hendrix, to Bob Marley, to Black Sabbath, to Ministry, to the Grateful Dead. Jimmie’s Chicken Shack was named after the Harlem restaurant where “Malcolm X used to hang out before he became Malcolm X.”

One of the major tenets of Jimmie’s Chicken Shack’s philosophy is to expect the unexpected—and embrace your mistakes. As Jimi said, “I think that’s the coolest part of art. Whether its music or painting, mistakes are crucial. So why the hell are you gonna work them out?” In fact when Jimi is not playing music he can often be found painting. He has had many successful exhibitions featuring his abstract-surrealist creations often painted on reclaimed cardboard. “It disintegrates,” says Jimi, “I like that.”

.Kelly Bell Band

Soul, Blues, Reggae, Funk, and more… it’s a mishmash of urban styles when the Kelly Bell Band comes to town. Voted the Top Blues Band in Baltimore for 12 years running, they bring together many genres that are lost in today’s culture. With elements of Motown combined with today’s modern rock and pop, there’s simply no show that compares to a Kelly Bell show. Fronted by a professional wrestler, well-known Baltimore radio personality, and special education teacher who arose from inner-city Washington, D.C., the story of Kelly Bell (and his stories on stage) will keep you fascinated from the opening note. They have passed the 100,000 record sales mark, still as an independent band, and have been touring with acts as diverse as Maroon 5, Ziggy Marley, Buddy Guy, G Love & Special Sauce, James Brown, Edwin McCain, and many more!

The Reagan Years

This band recreates the sounds of the 1980s; a day when Ronald Reagan was President, M-TV first aired, CDs emerged, Acid Washed jeans were “Cool” and alternative music was called “New Wave”. Since 1996, The Reagan Years has been headlining events to sold out crowds throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Five talented musicians with five diverse vocal ability enables them to replicate uncanny versions of the Pop, New Wave, Heavy Metal and Rock hits of the Video Era. While often imitated, the formula for The Reagan Years has never been duplicated.

The band encorporates traditional music via fiddle, bagpipes, djembe and percussion, yet sets an edgy stage with assistance from a tight guitar/bass/drum ensemble.

This meld of melody, harmony, and rhythm is sure to keep onlookers on their feet! They always bring it!

Texas Pride

Brad Glasco is a professional country/southern rock male vocalist (Frontman) and has been performing for over 30+ years.  Brad was schooled in theater and music and was awarded a full vocal scholarship in Texas and performed all across the US in special events both large and small.  After college he joined the US Air Force and ended up traveling the world.  While stationed in Germany he formed a band called “Texas Pride”.

Texas Pride was very well known for their country/southern rock sound, tight musicianship, lively stage shows and their concert formatted performances.  For the next six years, Texas Pride traveled across Europe and garnered a very large following as the featured act in numerous large festivals and events performing in front of crowds 10,000+.

For the past couple of years Brad has been the special guest at numerous events and has traveled back and forth several times to Germany where he routinely tours.  Unfortunately, Texas Pride hasn’t been overly active in the local DC scene until the past 6 months.  Brad has been able to assemble the best musicians in the DC Metro area and once again is thrilling crowds with his crystal clear country vocals and dead-on musicianship that Texas Pride has been known for ever since it was formed back in 1991.

David Glaser

David Glaser is a relative newcomer to the acoustic songwriter scene, but he is not a neophyte. After seeing him perform at NERFA, The International Folk Alliance, Kerrville Folk Festival, and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, some folks have asked, “Where has he been hiding, and why haven’t I heard of him before?” After nearly 3 decades under the radar, playing in bar bands and touring as a side man, award-winning songwriter and consummate guitarist David Glaser burst onto the Acoustic/Folk scene in 2008 with “Cars and Lovers”, a genre-bending CD that shows his range as a performer, and as a songwriter. Greeted with praise and rewarded with nationwide airplay, C&L charted on Folk Radio with the popular titles “Picture in My Car” and “House in Baltimore”. A new CD, “Caffeine and Nicotine” is set for release in 2010. David’s songs are lush, evocative, and full of imagery – like an album of snapshots from his rich journey. An evening with David is a rollercoaster ride of style, emotion and genre; you can expect everything from contemporary singer/songwriter fare to traditional offerings, and many shades in between. David’s fluent guitar and mandolin skills have made him a sought after side man, studio musician, and guitar teacher. He performs regularly with Dan Navarro, Stephanie Corby, and Bob Sima, among others. David offers a comprehensive Guitar and Mandolin Workshop on many of his tour stops.
